Harvest month is the farming festival of the year. The reaper cuts round the ripening wheat, the binder follows and the sheaves are stooked for sun and wind to dry out both stalk and ear. when sufficiently dried, the sheaves are taken to the thrashing machine. It is an old custom to select a bundle of the best wheat and cheer it.
