Remains of 13th century Augustinian priory incorporated into Tudor mansion surrounded by a medieval moat and glorious gardens. Watermill, physic herb & cloister gardens. The history of the priory is fascinating and lengthy and the many centuries it has seen come and go have left their individual marks on the building.

 

Set on a tranquil island surrounded by England's longest water-filled medieval moat. The house evolved from an Augustinian Priory into a splendid country house. Picturesque grounds include a physic garden, herbaceous borders and sculpture trail, Watermill, Smithy, Rope Museum, Self-Service Restaurant & Gift Shop.

 

Open: 15 Mar - 29 Oct, Wed - Sun. Also Bank Hol. Mondays and daily in August. Mar & Oct 10.30am-4pm.  Apr-Jul & Sept 10.30am-5pm, Aug 10.30am-5.30pm.
