Brass Rubbings of Sussex
Battle - Wythines
Of the five brasses here, three are in the chancel:
John Lowe, a knight of 1426 in his armour
Robert Clere, dean of the abbey 500 years ago
John Wythines (below), of 1615 in cap and gown,
with a ring on his thumb and a book in his hand.
The other two brasses are to William
Arnold who died in 1435, and Elizabeth Alfrage who is wearing something like
a hat of the 16th century.
