Withyham Monument
In Withyham there are monuments by Chantrey,
Flaxman, Nollekens, and Gabriel Cibber.
The monument by Flaxman is one of the
sculptor's best; it is to the fourth Duke of Dorset, who died in Waterloo
year after falling from his horse. It has a figure of his weeping mother.
The Chantrey monument (below), is to his mother, the third Duchess; it shows
two weeping figures by an urn.
