CHURCHES of SUSSEX

The Font at New Shoreham

The heavy font at Shoreham Church has been moved around within the church and now rests at the foot of the tower at the present entrance to the church.

The font itself is made from Sussex Marble and is Norman.  There are assorted carvings around the top edge of the font - these in the picture show triangles with crude sunbursts etched within them.

See the New Shoreham Pages for more information on St.Mary De Haura.

'De Haura' is the Latin phrase for 'of the harbour'
