CHURCHES of SUSSEX

Old Shoreham Church Arch

The great pride of Old Shoreham is in the four rich arches of its tower.

The west arch is crowned with a cat's head, one of the others has the heads of a king and queen, another has a line of limpets to suggest steadfastness, and all are deeply moulded.

The best view is from the west end, with the east window glowing with colour; the glass was shown at the Great Exhibition of 1851, and has figures of the Madonna and three saints, one St. Nicholas saving the three children from the tub.
