CHURCHES of SUSSEX

Shipley Church Arch

It is said that the old paving stones to the church come from the days of the monks, but we do not know.

Indoors it is a fine group of Norman arches which impress us, bearing up the central tower and standing, with the chancel between them, practically as the Normans left them.

They have impressive mouldings and extraordinary heads. The walls are about nine feet thick.
