CHURCHES of SUSSEX
Lyminster Church Arch
The oldest work in Lyminster church is from 1040, most of the rest is 1170,
with the mark of succeeding centuries here and there.
There was a Saxon nunnery here, and it is thought the nuns used the Saxon
nave as their
chapel. They would see the great chancel arch before it reached its present
height; it has now the Saxon and the Norman imposts on each side.
