Lyminster Church Arch

 

The oldest work in Lyminster church is from 1040, most of the rest is 1170, with the mark of succeeding centuries here and there.

 

There was a Saxon nunnery here, and it is thought the nuns used the Saxon nave as their

chapel. They would see the great chancel arch before it reached its present height; it has now the Saxon and the Norman imposts on each side.
