CHURCHES of SUSSEX

Eartham Church Arch

This tiny church has a magnificent thing to see, a chancel arch built by the Normans, with rare little carved capitals and two smaller arches at the sides.

Peeping out from the carving of one Norman capital is a tiny rabbit, and on the other is the comical face of a man; they have been looking at each other across the arch for some 850 years.
